Audio / Video Transmission System with Integrated Telemetry

PKI 5460Print

The PKI 5460 is a video transmission system which is characterized by a stable digital transmission. The COFDM technology protects the transmission from easy interception (additional coding possible). COFDM stands for Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing and is a transmission method for digital information. Besides external error correction, with COFDM the information to be transmitted is divided redundantly to multiple carrier frequencies. This way, the COFDM receiver is able to reconstruct the correct useful data information even in case of individual carrier frequencies being cancelled by interference. As a result of multipath reception (diversity), the typical image signal breakdowns resulting from receiver or transmitter movements can be prevented. The telemetry back channel enables e.g. the control of PTZ camera heads or lenses. Versatile camera control is thus possible on the receiver side. With a COFDM link, multiple video channels can be transmitted at the same time. The PKI 5460 system consists of the following components:

  • 1) Camera (or other video source)
  • 2) Camera control (zoom, focus and/or pan/tilt head)
  • 3) Digital video transmission path, COFDM transmitter and COFDM receiver
  • 4) Back channel for the camera and PTZ control
  • 5) Control elements for camera and PTZ
  • 6) Digital recording units
  • 7) Monitor for live observation
